I’m often asked how to freshen up a space on a literal ZERO dollar budget. Believe it or not, it is absolutely possible!

By rearranging the furniture, you can give your space a brand new look and all it takes is a bit of time and labour.

Not in the mood to rearrange things? You could also consider swapping items from another room in your home. By trading out some throw pillows, a blanket, some accessories like books, framed art, greenery and decorative items, you can refresh your space and give it a whole new look. Truth be told, this is the #1 means of updating my space – because you know, budget. 😉

We recently did a bedroom makeover on a tiny budget and one of the ways we made the final product look so beautiful was because those of us involved in the project donated items from our own homes to use in the space. So if you and your friends want to spruce things up, why not do a home decor swap? Something that may be tired and old to someone can find new life and breath some fresh air into your space! I love this video! You’re so generous with the sharing of decor tips Marissa. The best is that you make it so practical and something most people can do without too much hassle…except maybe a little sweat 😀. I have an idea for the back of your couch…I took pics of mine so let me know if you’d like me to send them to you. If I tell you it’s a throw blanket, it sounds too blah, you have to see mine to understand why it can work. As for your fireplace, I had a vision of beautiful crystals inside the fireplace. I have precious stones and crystals all over my house to enhance the beauty, but mostly to benefit from their natural properties. I believe they promote the flow of good energy and help rid the body and mind of negative energy for physical and emotional benefits. You could have a collection of crystals filling the cavity of the fireplace, or one huge one. I can send you a few pictures of where I have my crystals too.

    Glad you tried it. It’s fun trying different things isn’t it. This is the blanket I use, because it’s a piece of Indigenous art.
