GUEST POST: What Love is This?

GUEST POST Written By Carrie Knecht

What Love Is This?I grew up having this mind-set that I had to give, be a good person, and “do things” to earn love and feel approved.

There were times I felt so alone, just wanting to feel like I was loved and accepted by someone, without any conditions. I would try to please people so much, just to feel love and acceptance.

But what hit me so strong one day was I AM loved. I have ALWAYS been loved.

I never realized before, how strong of a love my Heavenly Father had for me.

John 3:16 “For God So Loved the world, that He gave His one and only son…”

He loved me so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for me! It was so hard to wrap my mind around the fact, that even if I was the only person here, God still would have sent His Son to die for me.

He loved me even when I couldn’t love myself.

I never have had to earn His love. He has known me and loved me since the day He created me in my mothers womb. I don’t have to be perfect to receive His love. His love for me is greater than any person could love me.

What kind of love is this?

Romans 5:8 “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Jeremiah 31:3 “…I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.”

Isaiah 49:15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.”

Song of Solomon 7:10 “I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me.”

Psalm 103:11 “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him…”
