Psalm 118:29 (ESV)
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!

I remember the first time I received a revelation of God’s love for me like it was yesterday. Sitting alone in my living room, I was writing a list of things I wanted to spend dedicated time praying about as our church geared up for its annual January prayer and fasting week. As soon as I began writing I felt the Holy Spirit’s whisper… “Why wait until January? Why not ask right now?”

What followed was the most precious, life changing encounter with The Lord that I have ever experienced. It was as though a curtain was pulled back, unveiling a depth of love that I had never known. From that moment, I began a journey of discovery, seeing God’s love – His steadfast love, in places I had once thought barren.

An interesting thing happened however. In the midst of this growing intimacy with the Lord, I discovered something more. I’m still me. The temptations that lured me prior to this experience, were still enticing to my flesh, and the insecurity that I thought had vanished, would still poke it’s ugly head, and stare me down in the mirror.

Never have I seen such a clearer need for the love of God to be steadfast then when faced with my human self. At my ugliest, He chooses to be the most glorious.

Lamentations 3:22,23 (ESV)
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness!

How amazing is that?! Today is a new day, and I am in awe of the fact that His love for us never ceases. As our hearts are captivated with the Father’s love we will overflow with gratitude that empowers us to stare sin straight in the face and conquer it! In fact, thankfulness is a key to living the fulfilled life God has for us.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV)
Give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Wherever you are in your journey with Christ, allow thankfulness for His steadfast love to propel you forward in your walk with Him. His love is undeserved, overwhelming, and abundantly steadfast.
