One of the things I LOVE about worship, is the simple fact that it’s always appropriate. Worship isn’t dependant on me, my mood, my feelings, my circumstances… not at all! In fact, when the focus is on me, I’m missing the point entirely!
Worship is about the Lord. And in every season, every situation that we face, He is always deserving of our worship.
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines…
yet I WILL rejoice in the Lord;
I will take JOY in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk is teaching us here that in the midst of lack, suffering and loss, our joy is found in the God of our salvation. Isn’t that amazing? That even when we are in a barren, unfruitful season, surrounded by lack (and all of the emotions that brings along with it!), we are summoned to exalt the Lord. We are to gather our will and make the decision that God is God, and that one fact alone means He’s worthy of all I have to give Him.
If you’re in a season of lack right now, I pray you would take time today to stop, shift your focus off of yourself and on to Almighty God, and begin to rejoice in Him. Celebrate His goodness and worship Him in spite of where you’re at, and receive the joy that only comes from reflecting on His saving grace. I pray you experience His love for you like never before!
